Millcreek Canyon, just a few minutes from Olympus Cove, is one of my favorite spots for outdoor adventure, no matter the season. If you enjoy hiking, there’s a great mix of trails—from easy, peaceful walks to more challenging hikes like Mount Aire, which rewards you with some incredible views of the canyon. For mountain bikers, the Pipeline Trail is a go-to. It’s got a nice, easy grade that lets you soak in the scenery, but if you’re feeling up for more, there are steeper, technical trails that’ll really test your skills. Road biking is also popular here, and I love how the winding canyon road offers both a solid climb and a fun, fast descent on the way back. In the winter, the whole place transforms into a cross-country skiing paradise with beautifully groomed trails that let you glide through the snow in total peace. Whatever outdoor activity you’re into—whether it’s hiking, biking, or skiing—Millcreek Canyon gives you endless opportunities to enjoy Utah’s great outdoors, all just a stone’s throw from Olympus Cove.
Olympus Cove has a few standout dining spots that I’ve come to really appreciate. Beaumont Bakery & Café is perfect for grabbing a quick breakfast or enjoying a leisurely brunch. Their croissants are incredibly flaky, and the avocado toast—topped with a poached egg and a drizzle of olive oil—is something I always look forward to. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, their almond pastries are a must-try, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. For something heartier, Wasatch Wing Coop never disappoints. Their wings come in a variety of heat levels, but I usually go for the Honey Habanero—it’s got a nice kick without being overwhelming. They also have great sides; the sweet potato fries are crispy and well-seasoned, making them the perfect pairing. If you’re feeling adventurous, the Coop offers some fiery options like the Mango Scorpion sauce that’ll test your spice tolerance in the best way. These places offer a great mix of flavors and make it easy to enjoy a good meal right in the neighborhood.
One of the things I really love about Olympus Cove is its mix of mid-century architecture that blends so well with the natural landscape. You’ll find some real mid-century modern gems here—think open floor plans, clean lines, and those big windows that frame the amazing views. These homes are perfect if you appreciate that classic mid-century style while still wanting something unique. What’s interesting about the area is the way the homes interact with the terrain. Many of the houses are built into the hills, giving them multi-level layouts that take full advantage of the incredible scenery. But if you’re looking for something with a bit more flat space, the north side of the neighborhood offers yards that are much more level, which is great if you want more usable outdoor space without losing those awesome views. Large windows are a defining feature in many homes here, bringing in plenty of natural light and offering stunning panoramic views of the Salt Lake Valley or Mount Olympus, depending on the location. These architectural elements truly make the most of the landscape.
